There are many different components that contribute to the authentic hospitality of this family-friendly town. You can spend a day shopping with local merchants, pick your own blueberries at a local farm, sample sweet homegrown watermelons, or take some time to learn about the pioneer spirit of Washington Parish at the Mile Branch Historical Settlement. Visitors will also want to include the Varnado Store Museum on their itinerary for a glimpse into the past. The Franklinton area offers something for everyone, making it the perfect place for families to visit.

Be sure you make it to the Washington Parish Fair for guaranteed family fun. This free fair, which originated in 1911, takes place every October and is the largest event in Franklinton.
